Modern Foreign Languages

What does Modern Foreign Languages look like at St Teresa of Lisieux?

Intent

At St Teresa of Lisieux we believe that learning a foreign language helps to encourage children’s interest in other people and cultures. Our aim is to enable our children to develop a good basic understanding and a love of Spanish by focusing on the four key areas of language learning: speaking, listening, reading and writing.

Implementation

Children in Key Stage 2 have the opportunity to learn Spanish with a Foreign Language Tutor (FLT), some of whom are native speakers. We follow the Liverpool Primary Languages Scheme of work for Spanish which demonstrates a clear progression across year groups.
