‘Can All Our Dreams Come True?’
This term our REAL Project has an English focus. It also includes lots of Art and Design Technology. We will be trying to answer our essential question; ‘Can All Our Dreams Come True?’ Our trip will be to Hope University – more information to follow. As part of our project the children will make moving picture books and they will work together to produce a large piece of art work. In Science we will be investigating materials. In ICT we will be using spreadsheets and creating animated stories.
Reading is really important so we encourage you to read with your child every day (it only takes a few minutes). Please help us by writing in the blue home-school reading record when you have read with your child. This helps a lot because we can then move the children on to new books more quickly. Reading books need to be in school every day – we never know when we will be able to squeeze an extra read in.
Spellings are sent home on Fridays and the children will be tested on them the following Friday. There are lots of ways to help your child to learn their spellings; some ideas are: use the ‘look, cover, write, check’ method (where you look at the word and say the letters, the word is then covered up and your child tries to remember the word and writes it down then you check whether the word was spelt correctly); when more confident that your child can spell the words, see how many times they can write the word in 30 seconds (the children love this one!); chant the letters of the word whilst marching, clapping, stamping etc. Also, remember to use Spelling Shed.
Our PE lessons are now on Wednesdays. Please leave PE kits in school for the half term. Space is tight on our corridors, so please put PE kits in a plastic bag or a pump bag; no back packs please. Please make sure that all your child’s clothing and footwear is clearly named (uniform as well as PE kits). Getting 30+ children changed for PE is so much easier, and quicker, if we can find everyone’s clothes at the end of the day!
We Need Your Help!
Would you be able to come to school to answer some of our questions about your job? You will only need to give us a little time and it really doesn’t matter what your job is. Please let your child’s class teacher know if you would be able to help us. This will really help with your child’s learning
